Attorney Stacey L. James
Stacey was born and raised in Zanesville, Ohio. She is a 1999 graduate of Philo High School, a 2001 graduate of Zane State College (Associate's degree, Paralegal, With Highest Distinction), and a 2003 graduate of Ohio University (Bachelor's degree, Criminal Justice, Cum Laude). During college she worked locally as a paralegal for 3 years before enrolling in law school.
In 2007, Stacey earned her Juris Doctorate, Magna Cum Laude, from Capital University Law School, graduating in the top 20% of her class. She earned a Concentration in Dispute Resolution and received CALI Awards for achieving the top score in her class in Trial Advocacy, Negotiation, Interviewing & Counseling, and Decedent’s Estates. While in law school, Stacey completed externships at the Franklin County Common Pleas Court, Domestic Relations Division and Juvenile Branch, the Franklin County Municipal Court, and the Ohio Department of Commerce, Division of Real Estate and Professional Licensing. She also prosecuted misdemeanor cases in the Hilliard Mayor’s Court as a legal intern.
Stacey has taught Business Law at Zane State College as an adjunct professor and is a member of the college's Paralegal Advisory Board. In 2010, Stacey was honored as a Hometown Hero by the Muskingum Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross, receiving the Workplace Hero Award after being nominated by court appointed clients. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Child Care Resources, Inc., the local Head Start organization. She is also a member of the Muskingum Area Real Estate Investor's Association and the Muskingum County and Ohio State Bar Associations. She is a past Board member of Transitions, Inc., the local domestic violence shelter.
